The Žižkov Television Tower is the highest (216 m) landmark in Prague, built between 1984 and 1989 (in fact fully functional and completed after the Velvet Revolution in 1992). There are many critics of this uniquely-designed but ugly tower situated in the historical heart of Prague. It stands high above the city’s traditional skyline from its position on top of a hill in the district of Žižkov, from which it takes its name.
