Be A Red Hot Bride in Winter

Getting married in the middle of winter? There is no better way to heat up the wedding aisle then to stride down it in a bright crimson wedding gown.  These wedding dresses are so popular they are called red-hot wedding gowns.

Even though the red wedding gown is just starting to catch on here in North America they have been popular at weddings in Asian cultures for many years.  This is because in oriental cultures the red wedding dress is a symbol of love and luck.

Red wedding dresses have been more popular in Europe for about a decade. However the gowns in Europe tend to be a deeper burgundy color or a rich silky red.  The red wedding gowns in the Orient and also here in North America are of a more orange shade of red. In fact one of the most fashionable of red wedding dresses is the sleeveless style with the high mandarin collar. These gowns make you look like a high-class sexy Geisha from a Quentin Tarantino film.

Not too long ago we only saw red wedding dresses in heavy velvets, silks and satins.  These dresses looked almost like costumes with fur trim in white or black or with satin details or beading.  The effect was very “Renaissance.”  Many red wedding dress styles also look like the dress of Rose Red or like Scarlet O Hara’s dress in “Gone With the Wind.” In the last few years the dresses have been lighter with chiffon flounces and details. Long flowing sixties gowns in Mad Men styles with diamante straps and wide glittering belts are also back in style.

A very popular look is the sleeveless prom dress look that features a heart shaped bodies that is attached to an overskirt of bright red. The overskirt parts in the middle to reveal a froth of pure shite skirt below. Many long red wedding gowns also look superb with an underskirt and trail of white lace cascading from beneath the dress.
